Airspot Owner Dashboard User Guide
Overview
The dashboard will allow the Airspot owner to manage visitor and guest accounts. It also
allows the owner to change the password and check session history of guests, visitors and roaming airspot owners.
Airspot Owner has a profile page which is published by him/her for social networking and will be viewed by the visitors and guests who connect to his/her network. The Dashboard for Airspot owner will facilitate modification of his/her profile, creation of guest user for his/her network, viewing the session details of guest users and visitors who had used his/her network for a given period of time. Airspot owner will be able to see the session history of his roaming sessions as well.
The dashboard is divided into the following sections:

Home
- Type the following URL in any browser - http://airspot.in/Airspot. Login page
(Screen1) is displayed as shown below.

- Enter login credentials and click Sign In. Your home page (Screen2) is displayed as shown below.

Edit Profile
- To change your home page / public profile click on Edit Profile tab in Screen2, Screen3 is displayed as shown below.

- Make it public: Mark this box, if you want others to see your profile
- Name:
Enter your name
- About your location: Enter few lines about your location
- Shout out to your visitor: Enter a message to people who visit your profile
- Social Networking Information: Your
various social networking pages like twitter, flicker and blogs can be
linked to the home page. Now,
if you just share your Airspot profile with others, they can easily read
through all the social networking sites that you are maintaining. The
advantage for you is that it is easy to navigate from one networking site
to the other from your Airspot profile page to update the contents
- Enter blog URL: Enter the URL of your blog or any other blog that you would like to share with the world. Default
URL is http://airspot.in/blog
- Enter
Twitter Id: Enter
your twitter id or a twitter id that you are following. Default
Twitter Id is airspotwifi
- Flicker
Screen Name: Enter
flickr screen name to display images on the home page. You
can find your Flickr screen name from http://www.flickr.com/account/prefs/screenname/.
Default
flickr screen name is airspot
- Location
Name: Enter
a name for your location. Name
your location with a name as unique as possible. For
Example: If
your flat number is 1202 in “A” block of Mani Apartments, then the name
for your location can be “Airspot-12thA-ManiApts”
- Landmark:
Enter the
landmark for finding your location, this will make it easy for people
to find your location
- Address1,
Address2, Country, State, City, Pincode: Enter
the address of the location. Please
enter the right address, as it will help the bills to reach you on time
- Billing
Address: If
the billing address is different, mark this box and enter the billing
address
- Upload
| Delete: Click
Delete to delete the photograph and Upload to add new photograph
Important:
It is very important that you fill up all the details
in Screen3, because this will help for better communication, billing and
for identification of the location. Depending
on the completion of the form, your location will be rated as Gold, Silver
or Bronze and according to the rating you can avail many benefits.
Rating:
Bronze – You will be awarded
Bronze, if you have given only your mobile number and email address.
Silver – You will be awarded Silver,
if you have given details about your location and other additional information.
This will
help for the revenue share to reach you on time and also the Airspot communities
will be able to view your public profile.
Gold – You will be awarded Gold,
if you have given your credit card details and have also done one complete
online transaction. The
Gold award makes you a privileged Airspot owner and you can avail the
facility to buy and sell your product online and Airspot will help you
to promote your location
Click Save Changes,

- This indicates whether the Airspot router has been online
for the past one hour.
There are some more additional features that can be added to the public
profile page and the features are: Links,
Twitter Updates, Profile Completion, Testimonials and Latest from the
blog
Description of other sections in the home
page:
- Links:
In this
section you can add links to any website of your interest that you would
want your visitors also to visit. To
edit the links, click on
icon, Screen5 is displayed as shown below.

- Enter Title
of the website, URL of the website and the New Site Name and click on
Submit button.
- Twitter
Updates: To change the twitter ID, click on
icon, Screen6 is displayed as shown below.

- Enter the twitter
ID in the text box and click on OK
button
- Profile Completion:
If you
have skipped entering details in some of the sections in Screen2, then
the incomplete sections will be listed under % profile completion section
as shown in Screen7 below. You
can add details and complete your profile at any time in the future.

- To complete
the profile, click on the remaining profile section name link to be filled.

Example: In
the above screen click on Add Flickr
Name (5%). Enter
the details and click Save Changes.
- About Location:
This section
gives an introduction about the location. To
edit click
icon.

- Latest from the
Blog: This
section displays the post blurbs from the blog URL given in your profile.
To edit
the blog URL please click on

- Testimonials:
This section
displays the testimonials / comments left by people visiting the owner’s
profile. Click
view all testimonials link to
view all the comments (Screen9) left by your visitors.

Settings
An Airspot Router can be associated with 3 types of users. The types
of users are the Owners, Guests and the Visitors.
- Who
is a Owner? – An owner is a person
who has bought the Airspot router. This
person is registered as an owner of Airspot who can share the bandwidth
with the Airspot Community.
- Who
is a Guest? – A guest is a person who can access Internet for free
at the Airspot Owner’s location. Guest
account will be created by the Host / Owner.
- Who
is a Visitor? - A visitor is a person who has to register as a
Airspot user and who has to buy access plans so as to access Internet
at any of the Airspot locations around the country.
The settings menu (Screen9)
will help you (registered owner) to add guests, change passwords and check
usage stats. When
a guest comes to your house with his/her wireless device and wishes to
browse Internet using his/her wireless device, then you can create an
account for your guest through the Settings
> Add Guest option and give him/her the password to access the
Internet.
A separate account is created for the guests to make the network secure.

Add Guest – Maximum of two guests
can be added.
- From Settings
menu, click Add Guest, Screen10

- To add a guest, enter username and your (airspot
owner) mobile number and click on Verify
button (Entering mobile number and verifying it is mandatory according
to DOT/TRAI rules for security reasons). Screen11

may take 1-5 minutes to receive the SMS code.

- Check your mobile for SMS
code. Enter
the SMS code that you have received on your mobile in Enter
SMS code text box as shown in Screen12 below.

- Click Submit.

is displayed with the message “Thank
you for verifying your mobile number”. If
you enter the wrong SMS code, then the message “Incorrect
SMS code or mobile combination” is displayed.

- Enter your Email id.
- Enter a password with minimum 6 characters. You
can give this password to the guest for signing in. In
Confirm Password text box, enter
the same password that you entered in the Password
field for confirmation. For Example:
If you
entered Ramesh2010 in Password
field, then enter Ramesh2010 in Confirm
Password field. If
you fail to enter the same Password in Confirm Password field, then the
message “Password and confirm password
must be the same” is displayed. There
is an indicator provided for you to understand the strength of the password
entered. If you use alphabets, numbers and special characters, then the
strength of the password will be high.
- Click on Add
Guest button. A
success page on creation of a guest account will be displayed (Screen14).
The new
guest account is displayed under “My
Guests” section.

To change your guest’s password, click on Change Password link, Screen15 is displayed.
The password
is changed when the guest has left your place after using the password
to login. Any
other new guest who visits can be given the new changed password. For Example:
Suppose
Guest1 visits your place and uses the password Airspot2010,
then after the guest leaves your place, the password can be changed to
GuestofAirspot2010 in Screen15
. This
new password GuestofAirspot2010
can be given to any other guest who might be visiting you.

- Enter New Password and Confirm Password. Click
on Submit button.
- If you wish to change Guest
Username, then delete the guest account. To
delete guest account, click on
icon
in Screen14 a confirmation pop up box is displayed as shown below (Screen16)

- If you really want to delete the guest account
click on OK button else click
on Cancel button.
Change Password – You can change
your (owner) password in this section or you can reset
your password from the Sign In
screen by clicking on forgot password
link.
- From Settings
menu, click Change Password (Screen17)

- Enter your mobile number and email address and
click on Submit button.
You will
receive a new password as a text message (SMS) on your mobile. Use
it to gain access to the dashboard and change the password.

- Enter the password sent to you by SMS in Current
Password field. Enter
New Password of a minimum of 6 characters and Confirm Password by re-entering
the new password. Click
Submit. Home
page is displayed.
Usage Stats - You can check
session history details of guests, visitors and roaming airspot owners
in this section. This
information will allow you to assess the traffic from your router.
- From Settings
menu, click Usage Stats Screen19

- To get details of usage for particular date range
click on
icon
to choose date as shown in Screen20 below.

link, the description for that user is displayed in User
Session Detail section.
Find Airspot
- Click on Find
Airspot tab, this will take you to the Airspot website from where
you can search for airspot locations as shown in Screen22 below. This
helps you to find the details of Airspots that are nearby so that you

of the Airspot in the text box and click on Go

- If you have any queries please click on FAQ tab,
this will take you to airspot website page with FAQs as shown in Screen23

Logout
- To logout of Airspot Owner dashboard click on
Logout tab in Screen21. Home

If you have forgotten your password
click on Forgot Password link.

have provided during activation of the airspot router and click on Reset Password tab. You
will receive an SMS with your reset password and a message “Your
password has been reset and sent to you, via SMS” is displayed

Overview
A Visitor can access the Internet by utilizing the Internet bandwidth shared by an Airspot Owner. The Visitor's portal shall allow them to register, buy prepaid access plans and also get authenticated by the Airspot servers, to be able to access the Internet.
Note – As of now, Airspot supports payments only via credit cards. We are surely working to support payment using debit cards and netbanking.
Accessing the Sign In Page
- Make sure that the WiFi adapter of your device is switched on.
- Search for the WiFi networks around you. If there is an Airspot location available nearby, you should find a SSID called “Airspot-Public”.
- Connect to the SSID “Airspot-Public”.
- After successful connection, launch an Internet browser and request for any URL you wish to visit.
- At this juncture, you shall be automatically redirected to the Visitor Log In page, as shown below -
Note for Internet Explorer 8 users – Users of IE 8 shall encounter a security warning popup message like the one below. Click on 'No' to continue.
Buying an Access Plan
- After the Visitor access page is loaded, click on the Buy Plan tab.
- Select a plan from the Choose Plan dropdown box.
- After you select the plan, the details about the plan should be outlined at the right, as shown in the screenshot below -
- Enter your mobile number and email ID. Click on Verify. You should receive a verification code as a SMS, on your mobile.
- Enter the verification code, and click on Submit.
- Now, when you click on the Next button, you shall be with a form to provide your credit card details. Check the screenshot below for reference.
- Enter your credit card information, and click on the Next button.
- Kindly read the Terms of Services carefully. If you agree with the terms, then go ahead and click on the Make a Payment button.
- You should get a 'success page' with the card number and the security PIN. The PIN number shall also be sent to you via SMS, on your registered mobile number.
Note – Both the card number and the security PIN are the same.
- Now, you can use the PIN and card numbers to access the Internet on only the Airspot location where you first use the coupon.
Accessing the Internet
- First, make sure that your web browser allows pop up windows, so that you can log out your Internet access session, later.
Note – If you do not manage to enable pop up windows for your browser, do not panic. You shall be presented with a “successful log in” page that you shall need to keep open, to be able to logout.
- Load up the Sign In page. The procedure has been outlined above.
- Click on the Sign In button at top right. You should get a screen like the one shown at the right.
- If you are a Visitor, enter the card and PIN numbers. If you are a Guest or an Airspot Owner, then enter your Airspot username and password.
- Click on Sign In and you are free to browse!
Logging Out
- If you had disabled your browser's popup blocker before signing in, you should have gotten a pop up window like the one below -
- If you had not disabled your browser's popup blocker before signin in, you should have gotten a 'successfull sign in' page with the following logout option -
- Click on either of the Logout buttons to close your Airspot session.

Overview
Airspot is a router that allows the owner to connect to the Internet through WiFi securely. It also allows the owner to share a part of their bandwidth for public use and earn revenue.
After the router is setup and connected to the Internet backhaul at the location, it is ready for the owner to get a wireless connection to the Internet on his secure private network. In order to share your bandwidth for public use, you will have to activate the Airspot router.
About This Manual
This manual describes the steps to be followed to install the Airspot router at your location. By default, the WAN port of the Airspot router has been pre-configured to operate in the DHCP mode.
Know Your Airspot Router
Default Setup of the Router
- The Airspot Router is shipped with the following default settings:
- WAN (Wide Area Network) with DHCP IP configuration
- LAN port has an IP address of 192.168.4.1
- “Airspot-Private” has addresses in the 192.168.4.x series.
- “Airspot-Public” has addresses in the 192.168.3.x series.
Setting Up the Airspot Router
- Connect one end of the Ethernet network cable to one of the LAN ports (labeled 1-4) at the back of the Router and the other end to your PC or laptop's Ethernet/LAN port.
- Connect another Ethernet cable (provided with the Router) from your modem (typically an ADSL modem) to the Internet or WAN port (marked in the image above) at the Router’s back panel.
- Plug in the accompanied DC adapter, and power it on.
- Switch on the modem too.
- Make sure the power and internet LEDs on the front panel of the router light up as green.
- If your Internet supports DHCP connection, then your PC should already be connected to the Internet.
- For advanced connectivity setup, you can stay connected with the Router via an Ethernet (LAN) cable, and visit http://192.168.4.1 using your default browser.
- Log into the firmware UI with the username as Admin.
- The password is the last 6 digits of your Router's MAC ID (pasted at the back of your Router), along with colons after every 2 digit.
For example, if your MAC ID is 01:2E:34:5C:67:R8, the password to your Router's firmware UI will be 5C:67:R8.
- Make sure that you type the alphabets in capital, in case there are alphabets in the Router's MAC ID.
Getting Connected to "Airspot-Private"
- Use your operating system's network manager to connect to “Airspot-Private” network (SSID).
- The passkey to the “Airspot-Private” SSID is the last 6 digits of your Router's MAC ID (pasted at the back of your Router), along with colons after every 2 digit.
For example, if your MAC ID is 01:2E:34:5C:67:R8, the passkey to your “Airspot-Private” SSID will be 5C:67:R8.
Make sure that you type the alphabets in capital, in case there are alphabets in the Router's MAC ID.
- After you input the MAC ID, your device should be able to get connected to the wireless network.
Activating the Airspot Router
- Once your are connected to the Airspot Router, and connected to the Internet, visit http://airspot.in/Airspot/activate on your browser.
- Alternatively, you can click on the Register button on the Airspot web site http://airspot.in.
- You can also activate your Router by connecting to the “Airspot-Public” wireless network and try visitng any web page. You shall be automatically redirected to the Airspot activation page.
- You should get a screen like the one below -
- Click on the Activate my Airspot button.
- On the next page, input your MAC ID, as printed behind your Airspot Router.
- In the Mobile section, enter a valid mobile number so that we can validate it using a SMS code. This procedure is mandatory according to DoT/TRAI mandates, for security purposes.
- Enter the activation code that you receive as SMS, in the Mobile Verification text box, and click on the Submit
- Enter the rest of the details asked by the registration form.
- When the Terms of Services section appears, you are strongly advised to read through the same, and then click on the Activate my Airspot button if you agree with the Terms of Services.
Congratulations! Your Airspot Router has finally been activated. Now, you can share your Internet bandwidth with the Airspot Community members, and even earn out of it.
Airspot Public Profile User Guide
Overview
In this century, social networking is the way that people have adopted all over the world to communicate with each other. This is because the Internet is filled with millions of individuals who are looking to meet other people, to gather and share first-hand information and experiences about topics and interests as varied and rich as our society and the history of the human being.
Airspot now offers the owners an option of creating a public profile so as to give a platform to them wherein they can exchange business-oriented ideas with other Airspot owners. This social networking can boost their business as well as help maintain contacts with other Airspot owners. Membership for this feature is restricted only to Airspot owners.
Once the owners create their public profile with Airspot they can begin to socialize. This socialization may include reading the profile pages of other members, visiting their hotspots to avail the services offered there and possibly even contacting them. The Airspot owners can post their picture; give information about their interests, flash the latest news, give cool links in their public profile page, so that friends, acquaintances, business partners, customers etc. of the Airspot owners can contact and know more about him/her.
This platform can also be used to advertise, sell products and create space for classifieds, thus broadening the scope of earning extra revenue.
How to create Airspot public profile?
- Once the Airspot router is activated, the owner’s
public profile with default settings is created. It
can be accessed using the URL given in the success page of the router
activation as shown in Screen1 below.

The following steps describe how your public profile can be edited in Airspot portal –
- There are two ways of accessing your account:
- By entering
the URL given in Screen1 in any browser, Screen2 is displayed [OR] by
clicking on Complete your profile
link in Screen1 above Screen2 will be displayed.
- By typing the
following URL in any browser: http://airspot.in/Airspot, Screen2 is displayed.
- Login page (Screen2) is displayed.

- Enter mobile number and password that you gave
while activating your Airspot router and click on Sign
In button. Home

- Since your profile
is generated with default settings you can customize your profile page
according to your requirement. We
would advise you to edit the page so that you become a privileged Airspot
owner and reap the benefits offered to privileged Airspot owner.
- Now, if you want
to edit your profile please click on Edit
